I’m reading a book in which there is a very interesting idea: “The mastery of love” (Don Miguel Ruiz & Janet Mills).
We are, each and everyone of us, in charge of half of each relation we have. Which implies that we control 50% of any relation we have. Great! Now at least we can focus on something that we can change!
Obviously it implies that the other half of the relation, we don’t control it at all! And that’s also very important to remind us that anyone who we are in relation with is clearly not under our control.
Where I want to draw your attention now is on the huge possibilities that are in your hands. Because not only can you do whatever you want with your 50% of each relationship, but obviously that is going to create something very different according to what you do.
Everyone of us has a significant influence on all other person around us. Do whatever you want, but keep in mind that your attitude, your words, your intentions are going to impact your surroundings.
Instead of focusing on all the things you don’t control, on the behavior of people around you, stay focused on your part of the relation. Just remember that you can change any relation at any time! And as it is a relation with someone else, then enjoy the reaction that you inspired in others.
That’s the magic of life: we interact with each other! Most of the time we are just focused on what others do with us, but the real value is to look at what we bring to the table, and play with it, as it is totally under our control 😉
