Do you remember when you were young? I mean, when you were a child. We were playing with other kids and pretended to be a cowboy, a princess, a pilot, a policeman… We were acting and experimenting the feeling of being someone else. Someone we would like to be. We could feel like we were, to some extent, this person. And as the other kids pretended you were that person, it was even more real.
Believe it or not, but we are all still playing this game.
Pay a closer attention to yourself. What do you pretend you are right now?
Most of the time we pretend we are what we do as a job. But this job can change, and we are still ourselves. And when we are outside of our job hours, we still need to pretend we are someone. So we try to keep alive the person we are when we are working. Or maybe we become someone else, depending on what we do.
Alas, a lot of time we pretend we are a victim… And we act this way. You know, you lower your head, you feel weakened, a little depressed, and you moan.
In the exact same situation, you could also have pretended to be someone incredible, indestructible, flexible and resilient whatsoever. A person that is not impressed by whatever happens! And you could have acted this way: head up, big breath, determined, and not impressed at all!
The only difference with when we were a child is that back then we knew we were playing. Now we think our role is real… and we take it as seriously as that. But it is still a role that we choose every moment.
What role are you playing now ?
Have fun, this is all under your control! So choose the best role in each situation…
Have a great life!
